Facebook Launching Skype Powered Video Chat On Wednesday

July 2, 2011

Just yesterday, We had reported that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg had revealed that the company was planning to launch something awesome next week. Well, according to sources, it turns out that Facebook is all set to launch its new in-browser Skype powered video chat facility next week.

This partnership with Facebook might be beneficial for Skype as well, which is now a Microsoft owned property. Since we know that Microsoft isn't in the online social networking game, they won't really have any objections with Skype forming a partnership with Facebook and one shouldn't forget the fact that Microsoft is a shareholder in Facebook.

Many analysts believe that Facebook's "something awesome" would be related to the mobile or tablet arena including the release of a long-awaited Facebook app for iPad and a dedicated app for photo-sharing on the iPhone. However, it turns out that its going to be completely different. Partnering with Skype, Facebook will now bring in-brower video chat for its over 750 million users.

Facebook has also posted a job opening requiring the services of a software developer to make desktop applications for Windows and Mac. Does this mean that Facebook wants to make a debut in desktop based video chatting solution as well? With Skype already dominating that, how does Facebook plan to do that whilst being in partnership with Skype itself?

All of these questions will be answered, come Wednesday. We'll be sure to update you with all the details regarding Facebook's new service, right here.

Multiple iPhone apps side by side on the iPad

June 30, 2011

Aaron Ash, a well-famous iPhone developer, has today managed to run two iPhone apps side by side on the iPad. The developer of the tweak didn't mention it's name and didn't give an ETA on his blog post but he said it's going to be public soon.

Yes, and it actually works! Iโ€™ve wasted plenty of time already playing 2 games of Angry Birds at the same time. (I actually was playing 3 for a while, but it crashed when I tried to add a 4th). There are a few bugs, such as audio not workin...

iPhone 5 & iPad 3 Concepts Created by Roman Vladimir Sima

June 29, 2011

Roman Vladimir Sima posted on Flickr his vision of the iPad 3 and iPhone 5, basing his concepts on a classy design with a glossy surface. No info on the specs of these iPad and iPhone designs, but I can see that the iPhone keeps the physical home button, unless Iโ€™m mistaking and the capacitive one stands out too much.

The front surface of the phone makes me think about the repeating rumors about the edge to edge display that weโ€™ll see on the iPhone 5. It would be cool for the gloss...

explains why the DevTeam iPhone OS 5 does not allow downgrading firmware

June 27, 2011

In a post from the DevTeam released some minutes ago, is to elucidate the possible reasons that make it impossible to downgrade the IOS of 5.

Here's the translated post:

It seems that Apple wants to aggressively fight the so-called "replay attack" that allowed users to date, using iTunes to restore previous versions of the firmware using the save dell'Ecid.

Those of you who made the jailbreak in the past will surely have heard of the need to periodically save the ECID (SHSH), in...
